The Counterfeit Stones are more than a tribute to the Rolling Stones – they are a complete re-enactment with a healthy smattering of ‘Spinal Tap’ humour.
They have successfully toured the globe for nearly twenty years and during that time, have played shows to audiences of up to 60,000. Their many fans include Bill Clinton, Prince Edward, Lemmy, Mick Jagger, the Gallagher brothers, Jerry Hall and many, many more.
The band formed in October 1991, and while there have been some personnel changes since then, the characters, of course, never change. The Counterfeit Stones have played in most major countries, have been booked by multinationals, British Royalty and some of the most famous international celebrities, and have shared stages with leading artists including Joe Cocker, Iggy Pop, Blur, ZZ Top and Bryan Ferry.
What they said
“The most famous Stones band in England” – Sir Mick Jagger
“The music and satire are spot on… I know which band is more fun!” – Daily Express
Established in 2001, this band is the only tribute to have performed with two original members of Blondie – legendary drummer Clem Burke, who is sadly no longer with us, and songwriter, bass player and prolific author Gary Valentine. In 2019, to celebrate 40 years since the release of Blondie’s iconic album Parallel Lines, Bootleg Blondie played two UK tours with Clem Burke under the band name CBBB (Clem Burke & Bootleg Blondie).
Bootleg Blondie can be seen at all the major venues and festivals around the UK and Europe and have opened for, amongst others, The Undertones, Slade, Sophie Ellis Baxtor, Faithless, UB40, Sister Sledge, Bootleg Beatles, Bananarama and Big Country.
What they said
“Playing with Bootleg Blondie was very emotional” – Clem Burke
“It was a truly splendid and electrifying night with the band and audience connecting in perfect harmony” – Martin Gray
