The Hampton Pool Trust is the Governing Body of the public open-air swimming pool at Hampton, having taken over responsibility for this from the Council in 1985. It is a not-for-profit Company limited by guarantee which is registered as an educational charity. The Company is led by an unpaid volunteer Board of Directors, who are also Trustees of the Charity, and who are elected to carry these responsibilities by the 90 or so Members of the Company.
Having successfully grown the business from 1985 to 2007, the Board of Directors transferred day-to-day operational management of Hampton Pool to the local YMCA London South West, which is also a charity, by means of a Management Agreement, but retained overall responsibility for the wellbeing and continuation of this valuable service to the local community. The volunteer Directors of the Hampton Pool Trust and the professional YMCA LSW Management team work closely together.
Hampton Pool is open for public use every day of the year. It provides recreational swimming, swim teaching, and aqua aerobics in warm water (28degrees c) in two pools. It has a well-equipped gym, a sauna, health and fitness studio, café and other facilities. It also runs fund raising summer picnic concerts. It is regarded as a “Top Ten Lido”. It promotes physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.
The Board of Management is a group of people with a range of skills and experience whose are responsible for the overall policy, planning and strategic functions of HPT ensuring it meets the needs of service users in accordance with its vision, mission and values.
